May 2005
Our Portage to the Future event this year was a tremendous success! In total, we raised $166,400 for Camp Towhee, our therapeutic summer camp for kids with learning disabilities.
Mark McEwan and his fabulous culinary team at North 44 Restaurant, along with Michael Stadtlander of Eigensinn Farm, created a lavish evening for our guests.
Each year this funding helps provide subsidies to lower income families so that their children can attend camp. The proceeds also go toward enhancing our camp facilities and programs. In 2004, our funds helped send fifty kids to camp and allowed us to update our Challenges Ropes Course. In 2005, we built a pavilion for our out-tripping program so we can work outside with campers through any kind of weather.
In the speeches the night of the event, Camp Towhee was spoken of a "place where magic happens."
Thanks to our lead sponsor, TD Securities, for their support.
