Research

Our VISION is to be viewed by our clients, the community, and beyond as LEADERS in the provision of assessment and treatment services for youth with learning disabilities (LD) and co-occurring social emotional disorders and their families.

We view RESEARCH as central to this vision and as such are committed to…

Being informed of and completing research about the mental health needs of children and youth with LD, including enhancing knowledge of how factors (e.g., individual, family, and community) interact to place children with LD at risk or assist in enhancing resilience and well-being.

Ensuring our staff have state-of-the-art knowledge and training in learning disabilities and children’s mental health.  This enables our staff to provide evidence-based treatments, where available, and adapt treatment in ways that capitalize on the individual strengths of the child and family while accommodating for areas of weakness.

Developing new interventions for children and youth with LD and evaluating them to see if they are effective and what we can improve on to better meet the needs of our clients.

Evaluating our services and systems from the perspective of our clients and the community to ensure the provision of the best possible service.

Developing innovative research methods and designs for assessing children and youth with LD that take into account learning strengths and needs.

Sharing knowledge with other researchers, educators, and children’s mental health professionals to further our understanding of LD and children’s mental health and how to promote the well-being of children and families.
