Below is the schedule for our Fall 2013 Workshops. These
workshops are designed for parents, family members, caregivers,
community members and any other adults interested in supporting
children and youth who have Learning Disabilities.

- The cost for each workshop is $15.
- All workshops will take place on Tuesday evenings at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre (200 Eglinton Avenue West)
- All workshops will run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Walk a Mile in My Shoes

This is an experiential workshop that is designed to give participants an understanding of what it may feel like to have a Learning Disability (LD) through engaging in a series of activities. Through these exercises, participants will gain knowledge about current thinking in the field of LDs and a practical understanding of how they may affect mental health and everyday life at home and at school.

This workshop will explore informal and more formals ways of communicating with the school. There will be a focus on understanding the process of getting help and the terms used within the classroom and the school system. There will also be attention paid to relationship development and team building.

This Workshop is an overview of ADHD, exploring different sub-types and how they may interact with learning and social interaction. Suggestions on how to support kids who may have both ADHD & LDs will be discussed.
Executive Functioning & Learning Disabilities

This presentation provides participants with an understanding of the nature of executive functioning (higher order thinking skills including organization and problem solving) and difficulties children with learning disabilities may have in regulating themselves. Suggestions on how to support kids with executive function difficulties will be discussed.

In this introductory workshop, we explore features of NLD including a strengths-based perspective. We will also discuss the overlap between NLD and Aspergerís and look at possible strategies to support youth with NLD at home and at school.
